Our presence in Loire-Atlantique is partly due to our proximity with the Nantes University Hospital which is very open to external collaborations
“We are present in New-York, Paris and, since April 2018, in Nantes. The team from Nantes is dedicated to the development of Substra, a privacy-preserving machine learning platform applied to medical research. This project, named Healthchain, is a collaboration among six hospitals, including the Nantes University Hospital, two research laboratories and two start-ups, including ours. Our presence in Loire-Atlantique is partly due to our proximity with the Nantes University Hospital which, in spite of its large size, has a dynamic and flexible organisation and is very open to external collaborations Above all, it is the quality of life in the city of Nantes which got us to take the plunge. It is a major factor in attracting talents! And we have no regrets whatsoever. We immediately felt at home: we had a warm welcome from the ecosystem, which introduced us to the “jeu à la nantaise” (special Nantes touch). It played the role of a facilitator by helping us find the right premises and introducing us to other local stakeholders. “

That special “jeu à la nantaise” literally took us on a virtuous spiral of progress!
“LNA Santé is a family business whose activity is to treat and care for people suffering from illnesses or old age. We manage 70 homes for dependent residents (EHPAD) or health facilities (clinics for follow-up and rehabilitation care, psychiatry, etc.), including eight in the Pays de la Loire. We chose to focus on technological, organisational and managerial innovation for the well-being of our patients, residents and employees, and for enhancing the appeal of our businesses. A unit made of the headquarters/nursing homes identifies start-ups, tests innovative systems and organises the annual LNA Digital Day. We also invested in a research cluster which works closely with the Gérontopôle to develop new products and services. We firmly believe in partnerships among public-private-voluntary organisations, and are lucky to be part of an ecosystem which is particularly innovative, open, collaborative, stimulating and serious, especially in the field of healthcare. It is mutually beneficial. “That special “jeu à la nantaise” literally took us on a virtuous spiral of progress!”
Marie-Laure Lévêque Director of the health forecasting and strategy cluster at LNA Santé
The Nantes University Hospital is a centre of excellence in research and expertise and is internationally renowned, particularly in immunology
“We are working on a new generation of medicines, biomedicines, with a highly targeted action. They are administered to specifically defined populations. The challenge thus lies in accurately defining these categories of patients. Here artificial intelligence can prove to be invaluable in detecting targets of therapeutic interest and in processing these data. However, nothing can be achieved without clinical and biological data of good quality and in sufficient quantity. In Nantes, we are lucky to be supported by a very favourable environment. The Nantes University Hospital, which is very open to industrial partnerships with SMEs, is a centre of excellence in research and expertise and is internationally renowned, particularly in immunology The innovation ecosystem, and in particular the field of biotechnologies, is dynamic and enriched by a number of operators, such as the Atlanpole. The label we received from the Atlanpole Biothérapies competitiveness cluster in 2007 gave us access to public financing and to several calls for tender. Thanks to this support, we have signed agreements with international pharmaceutical groups. At whatever phase of development we were, we could always count on the support network! “

The special feature of our hospital is its solid territorial foothold and its close connection with the stakeholders of the department and the region
“The special feature of our hospital is its solid territorial foothold and its close connection with the stakeholders of the department and the region: from elected officials to higher education institutions, including institutional players, public hospitals and businesses. We are convinced that teamwork is a key success factor. The NExT project is the perfect illustration of our proactive partnership policy. Driven by the University of Nantes, Centrale Nantes, Inserm and ourselves, it aims to position Nantes at the international level in two areas: healthcare and engineering of the future. Another example of cross-fertilisation: we are jointly developing, with local start-ups and SMEs, the medicine of tomorrow, that of the 4Ps (personalised, predictive, preventive, participative). Modern tools are revolutionising the relationship between the patient and their illness, the patient and their doctor, and are facilitating data mining to feed into research.
To conclude, the healthcare of the future is a major thrust of the development of our territory, which is giving itself the resources to match its ambitions to move forward and stand out. “
